Veteran Actor Sesan Adio SaysVeteran Nollywood actor Sesan Adio, popularly known as Ojoge, has reflected on how his limited formal education has hindered his progress.
Speaking on a YouTube podcast, Adio explained that although he attended school up to Primary 5, circumstances beyond his control forced him to drop out. He recounted experiencing what he described as spiritual challenges shortly after being identified as an exceptionally bright pupil.
He said, “I was in Primary 2 when one teacher in Primary 3 saw me in the school and asked me how many feet make one foot, and I said 3. He was impressed and took me to his class asking me to flog all my seniors in Primary 3 because they didn’t know it.”
The actor continued with how that encounter drew attention from people in his community.
“Among these students, there were two of my neighbours at home who went home and told everyone what happened, and the elders started coming to our house to congratulate my mother that she had a brilliant son, unaware that it was fake love.”
Adio said the praise soon turned into a period marked by unexplained illness that disrupted his schooling.
“After that period, each time I was to resume school, I would fall sick, my parents tried all they could and even sent me to Ibadan to live with my mother’s sibling, but unfortunately, all I could do was study till Primary 5 before I dropped out of school.”
He added that his truncated education continues to affect him.
“I believe that lack of education is what has affected me this much.”
