Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has opened up about how her latest collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper Skepta came to life, revealing that a casual direct message sparked the creative process behind their new single, “On The Low.”
Speaking about the track, Savage recounted how she reached out to Skepta while in London and was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the collaboration unfolded.
“So, ladies, I want to say that it does work sometimes when you slide into that dm. But I did slide into the dm and I was like, hey, big smoke. I didn’t really tell him up front what I wanted. Kind of was just like, I’m in London.”
“What you doing? He’s like, yo, I’m in the studio. I’m like, oh, cool. So I went over and played him the record, and he loved it. I particularly loved shooting the visuals for this. So if you haven’t seen it, make sure you check it out,” she narrated.
The single, released on July 30, 2025, has garnered strong reception from fans in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom, further cementing Savage’s global appeal.
“On The Low” is one of the lead tracks from her forthcoming album, “This One Is Personal,” which is scheduled for release on August 29, 2025.
