Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince, has shared the story behind his recent weight loss, revealing that a casual remark from his friend and producer, Chopstix, inspired him to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
The music star clarified that his slimmer appearance was achieved naturally, dismissing speculation linking his transformation to drug use.
Speaking about the change, Ice Prince explained that the decision came while he was recording a new album alongside Chopstix. According to him, the producer suggested they embrace a fresh image for the project, an idea that immediately resonated with him.
“It was just a statement from my friend, Chopstix, who is also a producer. We were working on an album when he said, ‘Ice, let’s do this album with a new look, let’s cut the belly out,’ and it made sense to me,” he said.
The rapper disclosed that the process soon became a routine, with Chopstix regularly visiting his home for evening walks as part of their fitness effort.
“He started coming to my house every day at 8pm, and we would take walks together. That was it,” the rapper stated.
Ice Prince also addressed rumours surrounding his physical transformation, firmly denying claims that drugs played any role in his weight loss journey.
“I promise on everything that I love and care about, I have never had an interest in any drugs or any substance. I have never engaged in it. I used to be a smoker, yes, but that was the height of it. I have never tried drugs in my life. My weight loss was natural,” he said.
The rapper further spoke on his forthcoming album titled Testimony of Grace, describing the project as a reflection of his personal experiences, gratitude and journey in the entertainment industry.
According to him, the album captures his thoughts and life lessons gathered over more than a decade in music since the release of his breakout hit Oleku in 2010.
“Testimony of Grace is just a collection of my thoughts. Music is an expression of self, and this is me expressing myself in the best way I can.”
“I feel I have lived a gracious life. God has blessed me in so many ways I can’t even explain. I came into the game with Oleku in 2010, so it’s been about 16 years of being active in music, and God has been gracious all the way,” Ice Prince concluded.
