Nollywood actress and filmmaker Shan George has shared how being truthful once cost her an investment opportunity with a wealthy Nigerian man.

In a post on her Facebook page, the veteran actress recalled that many years ago, while still struggling as a producer, she met one of Nigeria’s richest men by chance. She said she invited him to a movie premiere and used the opportunity to ask if he could invest in her next project.

“Many years ago, as a struggling movie producer, I met one of Nigeria’s richest men by accident. I went to invite a father to my movie premiere, and he was there, so I also extended an invitation to him. In the few minutes we met, he asked how much I spent producing the movie, and I told him 6 million naira. He just smiled and waved me off,” she wrote.

She explained that she tried several times to reach out to him again for possible investment but could not get through, so she moved on.

Shan said she later read a statement where the same man admitted he never takes “any little person” seriously in business. According to her, that helped her understand why he dismissed her at the time.

“This is how the truth keeps setting us back every time, shey I for lie then ni? But I sure won’t join the lying gang, nor will I fake it to make it. Oga sir, I now make movies with 100M dollars, just one Bitcoin, will u now invest? Or we still too small?” she wrote.

The actress said she has chosen not to compromise her values despite setbacks. “I sure won’t join the lying gang, nor will I fake it to make it,” she stressed.

Shan has in recent years spoken openly about challenges in Nollywood. In 2023, she accused some junior colleagues of living fake lifestyles, claiming many lease houses and pretend to own them.

She also made headlines when she and actress Caroline Danjuma clashed with luxury brand Ashluxe after an unpleasant experience at their store. Shan said the incident left her heartbroken and showed her “some people will waste anybody without provocation.”

Last year, she also raised alarm after N3.6 million disappeared from her Zenith Bank account into an Opay account. In a video, she cried out for help, but later recovered the money and thanked the authorities for their swift action.
