Nigerian singer Omoniyi Temidayo, popularly known as Zlatan Ibile, has revealed how becoming a father at 25 completely changed his outlook on life and finances.

Speaking on an episode of the “Is This A Safe Space?” podcast, the ‘Zanku’ hitmaker said the birth of his son marked a turning point in his life, making him realise that things were getting serious — even though he felt unprepared for the responsibilities that came with it.

According to Zlatan, fatherhood had a major impact on his financial habits. He admitted that at one point, he was worried he might not be able to meet the expenses of raising his child in London.

He further revealed that the experience made him reflect on some of his past decisions and helped him let go of certain habits that no longer aligned with his new role as a father.

He said, “The birth of my son changed me. It made me realise that life was getting more serious. I wasn’t prepared. I started paying house rent in London at 25. I was scared I might not be able to keep up with the bills because some people were saying I might not be relevant in the music industry for more than three years.

“I became more serious with managing my finances. Limited spending and started saving for diapers.”
