Nigerians have taken to their Twitter handles to lambaste the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for refusing to appear before the Senate to be questioned by the lawmakers.
Idris was declared an “enemy of democracy” by the Senate this afternoon after he refused their third invitation to appear before the lawmakers to brief them on the killings across the country and the arrest of a member of the hallowed chamber, Senator Dino Melaye.

Pls IGP IDRIS ,if you like don’t go to honour the senate invitation, that’s not my problem. Pls tell d @PoliceNG dt every well dressed guy is not an internet fraudster. They should stop harassing innocent citizens.
That’s IF you will hear me also.

Every one is angry at IGP IDRIS for not respecting the senate.
Me: what do you expect from a man that’s holding the scrotum of the president and some other political elites in his hand?

Which other Democracy allows head of d country’s Police to snub her lawmakers if not Nig under @MBuhari ?How did we end with this IGP Idris?

The Nigerian constitution states clearly in Section 88(1) & Section 89(C) that the @NGRSenate can summon anybody, even the President. No one is above the law. IGP Idris must #ObeyTheSenate.

Wondering how an IG of Police can flout the direct order of the President & Oga is unable to discipline him? Well, IGP Idris was in charge in Kano during election 2015 (remember Kano with the 1.9million votes? Same Kano where State REC was burned to death…) try sack him nah..

In this country, those making the law (Sen.Dino) and those enforcing the law (IGP Idris) break the law more than criminals.

IGP Idris, the man who’s supposed to teach others how to obey the laws of the land has for a third consecutive time refused to obey Senate summons as stated by section 88 of the Constitution. He had disobeyed the president’s directive to move to Benue state. He’s still the IGP.

IGP Idris refused to obey President Buhari’s directive to relocate to Benue, He also refused to appear before the Senate for the third time.
Is this the man who is supposed to spearhead the protection of the right of Citizens and enforce the constitution? pic.twitter.com/fbAqR4QOv8

The IGP Idris couldnt make it to @NGRSenate as scheduled, today(2/5/2018).What the hell is happening in this country? Is our democracy not under threat? NASS must stop barking & bite, for once.

IGP Idris ( or whatever) was promoted from Commissioner of Police to Inspector General of Police for supervising the manually collated 1.9 million votes in Kano
Kano REC died in a mysterious fire after the elections

Again, IGP Idris declined the summon of Senators…it’s the 3rd time.

IGP Idris disobeying Senate summons is a like-father-like-son case in this current administration. Buhari has constantly disobeyed every decision and judgement that doesn’t favour his side. It’s a shame how rule of law and the Constitution is being ridiculed under Buhari. Shame
— #DoTheRightThing✊ (@iamJimmyGentle) May 9, 2018
This IGP Idris is a threat to Nigeria Democracy and I will blame President @MBuhari of this dangerous precedent! @yemiosinbanjo @NGRSenate pic.twitter.com/0Z7iVPaOif

Is obvious IGP Idris is one of the strong cabal in President Buhari Government and that’s why he think he’s above the law but someone should tell him he’s not above the law.

IGP Idris snubs the Senate for the third time.
