Foodstuffs traders in Akute Ogun lament hike in prices

Residents of Pipeline market, Denro Ishasi, have lamented the cost of foodstuffs at the market

Wuzup Nigeria went to Pipe line, Denro Ishasi market to compare market prices of food stuffs, particularly perishable food items. Food stuffs have discouragingly gone really high.

A trader who sells, tomatoes, pepper and onions named Mr. Adamu said he buys a bag of tomatoes for 15,000 naira to N18,000 and that before he used to buy it from N6,000 to N8,000. He also sells a plate from N1500, 1, 700, and N2000.

Another trader who sells the same things including pepper, better known as Rodo said a basket of Rodo is sold for N200, N700, N1,500 and N2000

A trader who sells yams said he sells a tuber of yam for N1200. He also said he sells five tubers of yam for N6,000.

An Onion trader said he sells Onions from N200 to N700.

A fruit seller said he sells a bunch of banana for N100, N150 and N200. He also sells cabbages for N200,N300 and N400, Cucumbers for N50 and N100, Carrots for N50 and N100.

A Rice seller who sells foreign and Nigerian rice said he sells a derica of Mr. Rice for N225 and a basin fro N700 to N1000. A bag of white and Yellow Garri is N15,000 before it was N20,000. Before white Garri was sold for N16,000. A basin of yellow Garri is N1,000

A five litres of Vegetable oil is N5,300, five lites of palm oil is sold for N4,600 and before it was either N4,300 orN 4,400,Big Eva bottle of Palm oil goes for N1,800 and small bottle of palm oil goes for N800.

A Panla fish trader sells her goods for Five pieces of Panla fish is sold for N6oo and two for N300. Shawa fish is sold from N700 to N800.

A meat seller said he sells a who meat for N10,000 and before it was N4000 to N5000.

When speaking with one of the traders, Mr. Adamu said it was the season and trasport fare that made tomatoes, pepper and onions to be expensive in the market.
