A 27-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Malami Abdullahi of Kasarawa area and a teenager of Gobirawa area of the state, were on Thursday arraigned before a Sokoto Magistrates’ Court for alleged homosexuality.
The Chief Magistrate, Abubakar Adamu, ordered the remand of the accused in person, saying the court lacked jurisdiction on the matter.
Adamu adjourned the case until June 11 for mention and possible transfer to a court of competent jurisdiction.
NAN reports that the accused persons are facing a two-count of unnatural offence to which the first accused pleaded not guilty while the second pleaded guilty.
The Prosecutor, Abubakar Tambuwal, had told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on May 7.
Tambuwal said the accused persons were caught intentionally having sexual intercourse on three occasions on Kantin Fodio Road, Sokoto, against the order of nature.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 97 and 284 of the Penal Code.
