Tom Holland has described the Holland Zendaya scenes in the latest Spider-Man film as a refreshing acting experience because Peter Parker and MJ no longer remember their relationship.

According to BBC News, the actor spoke about reprising his role as Peter Parker while Zendaya returns as MJ in the newest instalment of the superhero franchise. Their characters now face a different dynamic following the memory-erasing events of the previous film.

Holland was asked how difficult it was for the couple to portray two people who no longer remember each other while preparing for marriage in real life.

The actor said the change was enjoyable because it gave them a chance to approach familiar characters from a new direction.

“It was really fun. We’ve played these characters for 10 years. We’ve loved every minute of it,” Holland said.

He explained that actors often appreciate new challenges when returning to roles they have played for several years. The altered relationship between Peter and MJ therefore became a welcome opportunity to explore new emotions.

“Any time that you’re playing a character and there’s something new and fresh to bring to the table, it’s always so welcome,” he added.

Holland Zendaya scenes explore lost connection

Peter and MJ’s relationship has remained an important part of Holland’s Spider-Man films. However, the latest story begins after Peter’s friends have lost every memory of him.

That development means MJ no longer remembers their friendship, romance or the dangers they faced together. Peter must now decide whether to rebuild those relationships or continue living apart from the people closest to him.

Holland described the storyline as a “really fun acting exercise” because it allowed him and Zendaya to present a different version of their established chemistry.

The actors first appeared together in Spider-Man: Homecoming and have continued playing Peter and MJ across several films. Their off-screen relationship has also attracted widespread public attention.

New Marvel characters join Spider-Man

The interview also touched on the expanded Marvel cast featured in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The film includes the Punisher and the Hulk, giving Peter Parker new allies and possible sources of conflict within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When asked which other characters he would like Spider-Man to work with in future, Holland said the possibilities were endless.

“I mean, it’s endless, all of them,” he said. “I feel so blessed to be a part of this world, and I’ve been so lucky to share the screen with so many people.”

Holland avoided naming specific characters because he did not want to reveal details about upcoming projects.

“I don’t know what I can talk about because I don’t want to spoil anything,” he said.

The actor nevertheless made it clear that he remains interested in working with more Marvel stars as Spider-Man’s story continues.

The latest film will place Peter in unfamiliar emotional territory while also expanding his connections with other heroes and antiheroes across the MCU.
