The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 26 people at a hotel in Kano metropolis over claims of immoral behaviour.
The suspects, made up of 14 women and 12 men, were picked up on Saturday during a raid on Grace Palace Hotel, near Bukabu Barrack.
Deputy Commander General of Hisbah, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrest in a phone interview with The PUNCH on Monday.
He said the operation followed complaints from residents about what they described as illegal and indecent activities going on in the hotel.
“We arrested 26 persons during the raid at Grace Palace Hotel. We appreciate the support we got from the military and their commander for making this operation successful,” he said.
According to him, many of those arrested were drunk when the officers arrived. Several cartons of assorted alcoholic drinks were also seized.
He called on the public to continue reporting similar activities in hotels and homes so that the board can take quick action.
Aminuddeen said the operation was part of an ongoing effort to clean up Kano and would continue across the state.
