The ongoing paternity dispute involving the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, took a new turn following remarks from his father, Joseph Aloba.
Speaking in a recent interview on Silverbird, Aloba disclosed that he had requested a DNA test to confirm the paternity of Mohbad’s son but alleged that the process had been obstructed.
Addressing the issue of his estranged relationship with his grandson, Aloba stated that efforts to resolve the matter have been difficult.
He criticized Mohbad’s widow and her family for not bringing the child to him, despite his position as the paternal grandfather.
“As a father, they know where I’m living. They’re supposed to come to me,” Aloba said. However, he noted that the family’s refusal to comply prompted him to seek legal intervention.
When asked if he believed the child was Mohbad’s biological son, Aloba remained noncommittal, saying, “Let the courts make the final say concerning that.” He reiterated his doubts, stating, “With what I’m seeing… he’s not my grandson.”
The case, which has now become a public matter, is currently being deliberated in court.
Aloba expressed his intention to abide by the court’s decision, adding, “Let the court have its say. From there, I will know exactly what to do.”
Recall that the Magistrates Court, during its sitting on July 9, 2024, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, directed both parties to explore an Alternative Dispute Resolution, leading to closed-door negotiations that also failed to yield an agreement.
Sebsequently, Mohbad’s father filed the suit to seek a DNA test for his grandson which Omowunmi agreed to.
However, Omowumi on Wednesday accused her late husband’s father, Joseph Aloba, of avoiding a Deoxyribonucleic Acid test to resolve the dispute surrounding the paternity of the son she had with Mohbad.
