Hernandez’s late strike sends France into Nations League final

France has moved into the final of the 2021 Nations League after coming from behind to beat Belgium 3-2 in Italy.

The Red Devils were targeting the trophy as a consolation for their EURO 2020 quarter-final elimination by Italy likewise France who were knocked out by Switzerland in the Round of 16.

After staying goalless through the half-hour mark, Roberto Martinez’s side took the lead through Yannick Carrasco in the 37th minute before Romelu Lukaku doubled the lead three minutes later.

Karim Benzema led the resurgence in the second half with a 62nd-minute equaliser.

Les Bleus were awarded a penalty after Youri Tielemans caught Antoine Griezmann in the Belgium box.

Kylian Mbappé netted the penalty to draw Didier Deschamps’ side levelled in the 69th minute, leaving the game open for whoever wanted it more.

Lukaku found the back of the net late in the game but his goal was ruled out for offside.

But in the 90th minute, Theo Hernández struck beating Thibaut Courtois into the back of the net to seal the dramatic comeback.

Les Blues will face Spain on Sunday for the 2021 Nations League trophy.
