A 10-year-old Nigerian artist identified as Kareem Waris Olamilekan has revealed that his works are inspired by the things around him, especially his family.

Olamilekan, who made this known in an interview with BBC Africa also revealed that he is inspired by the artists Michelangelo and Arinze Stanley Egbengwu.

In the interview, Olamilekan spoke about his new programme and his artistic journey so far.

“I started drawing at the age of six when I was at school. 

“I draw my friends. I draw cartoons, comics. I draw illustrations from textbooks and newspapers.  

“I draw hyperrealism pencil work, I have my inspiration from something going on around me, especially my family. I want to be like Arinze and Michelangelo.

“I want to see myself among the great artists in the museumsMy best work is this because of the title; ‘Daily Bread’

“That’s the sweat and the tears. My family, we work hard before we put food in our mouths before we eat. That’s what inspires me.”
