Chelsea are set to meet the release clause of Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, which stands at €80 million (£71.5m).
The Blues are expected to complete the signing of the Spaniard as a replacement for wantaway Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, who is trying to force a move to Real Madrid.
Courtois has gone AWOL from training and has stayed back in Belgium after representing the country at the World Cup in Russia. Belgium cam third in the competition.
Real Madrid are prepared to offer Chelsea £35m transfer for Courtois, whose contract runs out in a year.
And with time running out before the Premier League transfer deadline on Thursday, Chelsea have decided they are willing to make 23-year-old Kepa the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, as well as their third signing of a chaotic summer.
Kepa, Spain’s second choice goalkeeper, is considered one of the most promising keepers in Europe having impressed for his country through the junior age groups.
