The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man, Idowu Benson, for allegedly attacking his wife, Kemi Idowu, and cutting two of her fingers.

It was gathered that the suspect, who came into his house at Oba Ile in the Akure North Local Government Area of the state around 7pm on Sunday, was masked, armed with a machete and pretended to be a hired assassin.

The 42-year-old man was said to have told Kemi that he was sent to kill her and in an attempt to cut her head, he cut the two fingers.

A source said,

“The suspect left the house with the two fingers, while the woman was rolling on the floor in pain.”

The source added that it was Kemi’s cry that attracted neighbours who invited the police. The policemen were said to have seen Idowu’s mobile phone on the ground.

The police reportedly invited the suspect, who allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, said Idowu blamed the act on the devil, adding that he had yet to tell the police where he kept the two fingers.
