A 34-year-old unemployed man, Ikemefuna Anyaka, who allegedly set fire to his father’s property worth N10.8 million, on Wednesday appeared in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
Anyaka is facing a three-count bordering on willful damage and threat to life.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against him.
Following his guilty plea, the Chief Magistrate, Mr E. O. Ogunkanmi, remanded him in prison pending sentence.

According to Police Prosecutor Adegeshin Famuyiwa, the accused committed the offences on October 20 at Nichemtex Estate,
Baiyeku in Ikorodu at 8.00 p.m.
Famuyiwa told the court that the accused set fire to his father’s house which burnt the windows and clothes.
He also threatened to kill his father, Mr Patrick Anyaka, with a dangerous weapon.
The offences contravened Sections 56, 341 (a) and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).
Section 56 provides one-year imprisonment for threatening violence while Section 341 stipulates seven years for arson.
The case was adjourned until Nov. 15 for facts and sentence.
