HE BENT OVER TO TIE HIS SHOE AND COLLAPSED! Nigerian student dies during basketball game in US

A Nigerian born basketball player, Timeyin Amatossero-KeKe, has died after collapsing during a pickup basketball game in West Virginia, United States.

25-year-old Amatossero-Keke died on Monday evening while he was playing basketball with his friends.

According to WVNSTV, a spokesperson with Bluefield State College said Amatossero-Keke bent over to tie his shoe when he collapsed.

Efforts to revive him failed and was later pronounced dead in a local hospital.

The Big Blues Men’s Basketball team took to their Facebook page to announce his passing. The post reads;

“It is with a heavy heart this morning that we ask for prayers for our basketball and athletic family. Last night we tragically lost one of our very own. Timeyin Amatossero-KeKe.

“Timeyin was sophomore from Lagos, Nigeria and had a passion for our program and his teammates.

“Timeyin had a strong mind and just wanted a chance to play collegiate basketball. We ask that at this time you all keep his family and our student-athletes in your thoughts as we deal with this difficult time. Thank you,” the team added in a Facebook post.

The Bluefield State College also paid an emotional tribute to Amatosero-Keke’s on their Facebook page.

The post reads;

“To all members of our Bluefield State community:

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a vibrant member of our Bluefield State family. Oritsetimeyin Amatosero-Keke (“Keke”), a BSC junior and member of our men’s basketball team, passed away in Bluefield Regional Medical Center after open gym on Monday evening.

“Our heart goes out to his parents, family, friends, team members, and coaches.

“Reverend Garry Moore and Salvation Army Chaplain Gene Hunt will be available this week to counsel students, faculty, and staff who would like to talk with them.

“They will be located in the PE Building Conference Room (across the hall from the gym) beginning at 8:30 Tuesday morning. I encourage you to stop by and speak with them.
