Kai Havertz’s stoppage-time winner helped Chelsea defeat a revitalized Newcastle United side at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues have appeared unfazed on the pitch despite the heavy sanction slammed on Russian billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich, by the British Government following President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Despite amassing the majority of the possession, The Blues only managed three shots on target, one more than the visitors who failed to beat Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy.

Both sides were goalless for almost the entire regular time until Havertz found the back of the net, beating Martin Dúbravka with one minute to go.

Thomas Tuchel’s side claimed all three points to maintain the third position on the Premier League table, boosting their chances of a Champions League qualification next season.

Newcastle’s nine-match unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end following the loss at the Bridge.

The Magpies lie 14th on the log with 31 points, nine points adrift the drop zone.
