Former Kaduna lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has voiced his perspective on Nigeria’s current economic challenges, emphasizing that they are not divinely ordained.

In a statement on his X on Monday, Sani underscored Nigeria’s abundant natural resources, which surpass those of many other nations.

His remarks coincided with reports of a tragic stampede at the Zonal Office of the Nigerian Customs Service in Yaba, Lagos, where eager crowds had gathered to purchase discounted 25kg bags of rice, resulting in loss of lives.

Sani pointed out that Nigeria boasts over 200 rivers and vast arable land spanning 923,768 square kilometers.

He highlighted the nation’s demographic strength, with robust men and fertile women surpassing those of any other African country.

In his post, Sani remarked, “There are over 200 rivers in this country and we have a well nourished arable land of 923,768 kmsq. We have the natural resources that other countries will never have.

“We have virile men and fertile women more than any other country in our continent.

“We have no earthquakes, hurricanes or monsoons.

“What can grow in Thailand, Pakistan or Brazil can grow in this country.

“We want manna. Even the people who received the last plates of manna from Heaven have now turned their Desert Green. Our problem is not from God.”
