Disarmament of Hamas could begin as early as March 2026, according to two sources on United States President Donald Trump’s Gaza Board of Peace who spoke to KAN News.
The process is expected to commence once a newly formed technocratic government replaces Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Saturday night KAN report said.
The Peace Council is scheduled to convene in late February in Washington, DC, with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar set to represent Israel at the summit.
The Board of Peace initiative was initially conceived as a mechanism to end the war in Gaza.
However, Trump later indicated that the framework would aim to address conflicts on a broader, global scale.
According to the KAN report, groundwork for a transfer of authority in Gaza is already under way. It added that Israel has started constructing Israel Defense Forces bases in areas of the Strip under its control.
The Israel Defense Forces has also begun supplying weapons to anti-Hamas militias, including Abu Shabab, KAN reported, citing foreign sources.
