The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Board has warned intending pilgrims, urging them to pay the N4.5 million Hajj deposit directly to the board’s official account.

The chairman of the board, Sheik Ibrahim Oyarekhua, emphasized this advice during a weekend briefing with journalists, emphasizing the need to safeguard individuals from potential fraud.

While acknowledging that the board has not encountered issues with fraud in the past, Ibrahim stressed the importance of creating awareness to prevent any unintended complications.

He made it clear that agents are not authorized to collect money on behalf of the board.

“We have co-opted Imams across the state to include Hajj in their Friday sermon so that we can reach all Muslims who have the intention to perform Hajj this year,” Ibrahim stated.

The board has utilized various media channels to communicate the new deadline for Hajj fare payment set by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for January 31.

In addition to raising awareness, the board is actively engaged in finalizing arrangements for accommodation, feeding, transportation, and other essential aspects to ensure a seamless and trouble-free Hajj experience for all intending pilgrims.
