Haaland ‘s brace fires Man City to top of EPL

Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland broke his goal drought since November with a stellar performance that propelled Manchester City past a resilient Everton squad, securing City’s position at the summit of the Premier League.

Following his recovery from a foot injury that sidelined him for a significant part of December and January, Haaland demonstrated his prowess with two decisive goals in this encounter.

His initial strike, a brilliant first-time finish in the second half, provided City with a vital breakthrough. Later, he sealed the victory by capitalizing on a clear run to calmly slot the ball past Jordan Pickford.

Prior to Haaland’s heroics, Everton’s solid defensive structure thwarted the reigning champions, who struggled to muster a shot on target until Haaland’s intervention.

Despite Pickford’s efforts, Haaland’s fierce first-time strike found the back of the net after Everton failed to clear a corner, further solidifying City’s lead.

Not content with a single goal, Haaland capitalized on Everton’s stretched defense in their pursuit of an equalizer. He capitalized on Kevin de Bruyne’s well-timed through-ball, outmuscling Jarrad Branthwaite to secure City’s victory.

While City’s tenure at the top may be short-lived pending Liverpool’s match against Burnley, their return to the summit for the first time since November 24th reflects their exceptional form. This victory marks City’s 10th consecutive win across all competitions, including triumphs in the Fifa Club World Cup and the FA Cup, and their sixth consecutive win in the Premier League.

In contrast, Everton finds themselves entrenched in the relegation zone, enduring a winless streak of seven league games.
