Borussia Dortmund’s sensational striker, Erling Braut Haaland, has set a new goal record in the Champions League after scoring a brace to take his side into the quarter-finals.

After netting a brace in the 3-2 away win in Spain, Haaland capped his fine performance with another brace as Dortmund saw off Sevilla in the Round of 16 on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old Norwegian became the fastest player in the Champions League history to hit the 20-goal mark in just 14 matches.

Tottenham and England skipper, Harry Kane, previously held the record after reaching the figure in 24 games.

He is also Norway’s top scorer in the Champions League, overtaking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who netted 19 times in the competition.

The achievement came with a little bit of drama between Haaland and the VAR following a five-minute check involving his second goal.

His solo goal was ruled out by VAR and later converted into a penalty for a foul on Haaland.

That spot-kick was saved by Bono, but he got another chance as the goalkeeper went off his line early.

This time, he made no mistake amid a wild celebration that provoked some of Sevilla’s players.

Speaking after the game, he said, “I missed and then he cheated, so then I took it again and then I scored when he didn’t cheat.”
