The 2025 Detty December Fest ended in grand style on Monday night as music lovers gathered at the Ilubirin waterfront in Ikoyi, Lagos, for a high-energy show that blended hip hop, Afrobeats and dancehall.
The event, held on December 29, drew hundreds of Nigerians and visitors from the diaspora, marking one of the biggest nights of the Detty December season.
American rapper Sergio Kitchens, popularly known as Gunna, headlined the concert as part of his WUN World Tour, making his return to Nigeria a major highlight of the night.
Fans began arriving early to secure good viewing spots, as the stage came alive with bright red and orange lighting, large LED screens and fireworks that set the mood for the evening.
Gunna thrilled the crowd with an hour-long performance packed with popular songs. Tracks such as Drip or Drown 2, Certified, Hot and Yose had fans singing along, while Pushin P sent the crowd into a frenzy.
The atmosphere shifted during One of Wun as fans raised their phone lights, creating a glowing scene against the Lagos skyline.
The biggest moment of the night came midway into Gunna’s set when Nigerian music star Wizkid appeared unexpectedly from backstage.
The crowd erupted as both artistes shared a brief moment before performing their joint song, Forever Be Mine. The performance stood out as one of the most talked-about moments of the festival, blending Afrobeats with global hip hop energy.
Earlier in the night, Nigerian singer Fave warmed up the stage with songs including Baby Riddim, Beautifully, Mr Man and her hit track Worry. She also performed popular collaborations such as Intentions and KANTE.
Jamaican dancehall artiste Shenseea added an international touch to the show, performing songs like Shake It To The Max alongside references to her collaborations with Moliy, Skillibeng and Silent Addy.
Throughout the event, DJs and hypemen including Do2dtun and Dope Caesar kept the energy high, ensuring smooth transitions between performances.
Beyond the music, the festival attracted celebrities, Lagos party lovers and visitors from abroad, further cementing Detty December’s status as one of Africa’s biggest end-of-year entertainment seasons.
As the night ended, social media platforms were flooded with videos and photos from the concert, with Gunna and Wizkid’s surprise performance dominating online conversations.
