Gunmen raze Reps member’s house in Imo

Unknown gunmen have set fire to the country home of Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu, a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Orlu, Orsu, and Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State.

According to Daily Post, the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning in Isioma, Abara village, Amanator Okporo Community, within Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.

Fortunately, Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu, also known as Omeogo, was not present at his residence when the gunmen carried out the attack.

Peter Anaele, a source in the community, provided a harrowing account of the incident. He revealed that the armed gunmen, wielding guns, explosives, and other dangerous weapons, forcefully gathered the lawmaker’s domestic staff at gunpoint before setting the building on fire.

“They looted properties and valuables, made videos of the staff, and threatened more severe attacks. They then poured petrol, which they brought in with two 20-liter kegs, on the buildings and set the houses ablaze with explosives, bombs, and dynamites,” he said.

The horrifying attack has left the community in a state of panic and apprehension as they grapple with the aftermath of this destructive act. The authorities have yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the arson.
