A former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, David Parradang, has been killed by gunmen in Abuja.
The tragic incident happened on Tuesday in the Area 1 axis of the Federal Capital Territory.
A source within the Nigerian Immigration Service confirmed his death, saying plans were being made to visit his family for a condolence visit.
“I don’t know exactly how he died, but we are planning to visit his family to offer our condolences,” the source said.
Reports from counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama revealed that Parradang was attacked after withdrawing money from a bank. The gunmen trailed him, took the cash, and later killed him.
Makama stated, “The tragic incident has raised fresh concerns over security in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly regarding the increasing cases of kidnappings and targeted attacks.”
The spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said she would provide more details but had not done so at the time of this report.
Similarly, the Nigerian Immigration Service’s spokesperson, A.S. Akinlabi, promised to respond but had yet to comment.
Parradang, who served in the NIS for over 30 years, held several key positions before becoming Comptroller-General.
