Gunmen kidnap Enugu varsity teaching hospital’s director, guard
Faith Alofe
Suspected armed kidnappers early hours of Tuesday attacked the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) in Ituku Ozalla area of Enugu state.
According to Vanguard, the kidnappers allegedly abducted a female deputy director of the hospital and a security man.
It was reported that the SUV owned by the kidnapped woman, a nurse, was seen abandoned in a viral video with bullet-perforated glass on the front passenger side.
Although the police and hospital management are yet to confirm the incident, a reliable source confirmed that a doctor was also abducted at the same location three weeks ago.
A staff member lamented the situation saying “This is so sad we are not safe at all in this hospital, everywhere is porous.”
A resident doctor was also attacked by gunmen at the same location earlier this year but managed to escape from the kidnapper’s den.
