Gunmen in military uniforms suspected to be kidnappers abducted five people in two separate operations in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area and Sabon Tasha in Chikun Local Area, all of Kaduna State.
WuzupNigeria gathered that the victims, which included a district head, were abducted on Wednesday and Thursday.
While the two, including the district head, were abducted at Birnin Gwari, the other three sons a businessman, were kidnapped at the Sabon Tasha area.
The kidnappers, it was gathered stormed the home of the father of the three, Mr. Christian Obi and abducted the sons.
The three sons abducted are Jonathan (31), Joachim (28) and Benjamin (21).
As of the time of filing this report, the kidnappers had yet to call and make demands.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the incident, adding also that two persons, including a district head, were kidnapped by gunmen in Birnin-Gwari area of the state.
But the incident at Birnin Gwari, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo said took place on Wednesday while that of Sabon Tasha took place in the early hours of Thursday.
Sabo said the command received information on the two separate kidnappings through the Divisional Police Officers at Buruku and Sabon Tasha respectively.
On the Birnin Gwari abduction, the police chief said gunmen in military uniforms intercepted a commuter vehicle along the Birnin Gwari Road by Ungwan Yako and abducted the two occupants of the vehicle.
Sabo gave the names of the abductees as Alhaji Yahaya Yusuf Abubakar, who is also the the district head of Birnin Gwari and Alhaji Ibrahim Musa, a former education secretary of Birnin Gwari LGA.
He said the two were taken to an unknown destination.
The police spokesman said,
“the Kaduna State Police Command has received information of two separate unfortunate incidents of kidnapping through DPO Buruku and Sabon Tasha respectively to the effect that, on 18/12/2019 at about 1430hours unknown Gunmen in Military Uniform intercepted a commuting vehicle along Birnin Gwari Road by unguwan Yako and consequently Kidnapped two (2) occupants to unknown destination.
“The victims were identified as Alhaji Yahaya Yusuf Abubakar Sarkin Kudu the district head of Birnin Gwari and Alhaji Ibrahim Musa former education secretary of Birnin Gwari LGA.”
“Similar unfortunate incident of kidnapping was recorded at Sabon Tasha In Chikun LGA where three (3) Persons Namely ; Jonathan Obi,Joakin Obi and Benjamin Obi all of the same address were kidnapped around 0200hours(Thursday) of today by Suspected hoodlums to unknown destination.”
He noted that the command had deployed police operatives from the Anti Kidnapping, SARS and the IRT to the two affected areas.
He added that the entire bush around the two areas have been thoroughly combed with a view to rescuing the victims and apprehending the culprits to face justice.
According to the PPRO, the Command is saddened by these unfortunate incidents and is doing everything possible to apprehend the culprits and rescue the victims unhurt.
He also reiterated earlier call by the Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga on the general public not to be deterred by these incidents as the command was on “top of the situation to ensure that the victims are safely rescued and ensure that the yuletide season is peacefully celebrated without apprehension.”
He equally solicited for the support and understanding of the people particularly during this period of celebration.
