Armed men suspected to be robbers attacked a Point of Sale operator and carted away about N900,000 in Nkpolu community in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State.
PUNCH reported that the robbers stormed the area on motorcycle, shot sporadically into the air before robbing their target at second bay junction, Nkpolu junction.
An eyewitness who claimed to be the victim’s neighbour sais the PoS operator initially thought the assailants were policemenn on duty.
“This incident happened around 4pm. I am a fast food seller. My neighbour is the person that was attacked. When i heard the gunshot, i came out from my shop, thinking it was policemen that were having encounter with bad boys.
“But as I came out, I saw a bike (motorcycle) man steaming his bike. And i saw one other guy with rifle.
“When he pointed it at me, i had to run for my life when i notice that they were not officers. They are armed robbers, before they now zoomed off.
“That was when we notice that they made away with our neighbour’s money. About N900, 000,” he added.
As luck would have it, the criminals were intercepted by a team of local security officers who handed over to the police.
