Gunmen abduct four Nasarawa varsity students

Gunmen on Monday night abducted four students of Nasarawa State University at their off-campus residence in the Angwan Kare area of Keffi.

The victims, all 100-level students, have been identified as Rahila Hanya, Josephine Gershon, Rosemary Samuel, and Goodness Samuel.

The Nasarawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the abduction,

“The command is aware of kidnapping at about 12:55 am as a distress call was received that a house located at Angwan Kaare, Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men,” he said.

He said security agencies have initiated a search and rescue operation in the area.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough manhunt for the culprits to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.

The police spokesperson assured the public that every possible effort was being made to secure the victims’ release unharmed.

Reacting to the incident, the Student Union Government chairman, Oshafu Abdulrahman, condemned the act and urged fellow students to remain calm.

He reassured the student body that concerted efforts were underway to secure the safe return of the abducted students.
