GUILTY AS CHARGED! Ugandan court convicts Nigerian for trafficking 2.088 kilograms of cocaine

A Nigerian man has pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle 2.088 kilograms of cocaine to Brazil through the Entebbe International Airport, Uganda on September 11, 2017.

According to a Uganda’s Monitor report, the accused, Augustine Anwuasoanya, 56, alias Keeten Kojo, was abroad Ethiopia Airways when he was intercepted.

Anwuasoanya, who holds a Nigeria Passport with No. 07269663, had entered Uganda with a fake Ghanaian passport.

Appearing before Magistrate James Ereemye of the Buganda Road Court on two counts bordering on unlawful possession of narcotic drugs and trafficking in narcotic drugs, the Nigerian pleaded guilty to the crimes.

He told the court,

“Your worship the allegations are correct”.

This prompted the court to convict him as charged.

The presiding magistrate Ereemye adjourned the matter to May 8 for sentencing.

Police records indicate that on September 11 the convict was intercepted at Entebbe International Airport aboard Ethiopia airways.

They reveal that he was travelling to Brazil via Togo, Ethiopia with Entebbe as a trial destination and he had entered Uganda using a fake Ghana passport.

That is when he was intercepted by intelligence on ground that he had ingested some narcotic drugs. The convict was arrested and subjected to observation by aviation police until evening when he passed drug pellets.

It is further stated that all the pellets tested positive for cocaine at the Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL).
