Pep Guardiola expressed his desire for Kevin De Bruyne to remain at Manchester City for the upcoming season but acknowledged the midfielder’s potential attraction to a move to Saudi Arabia.

Although De Bruyne is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2025, speculation persists about a potential move to the Saudi Pro League.

Guardiola addressed the situation, stating, “It’s a question for him, I’d love him to stay but I don’t know. I heard some links but I don’t know if there’s an offer, I don’t know if Saudi Arabia wants him. I would love him to stay until the end of his career, but everyone is everyone.”

As Manchester City prepares to face Luton Town in the FA Cup fifth round, Guardiola also commended Xabi Alonso, who is reportedly linked with the managerial position at Liverpool.

Alonso, who played under Guardiola at Bayern Munich from 2014 to 2016, has impressed as Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, guiding the team to the top of the Bundesliga table.

Guardiola praised Alonso’s coaching prowess, highlighting Leverkusen’s unbeaten record across all competitions this season.

He noted, “Now they have the best time of the season, in the position they cannot win the Bundesliga but they can lose the Bundesliga because everybody thinks it’s done. That’s the most difficult thing, it’s not done until it’s done.”

Reflecting on their time together at Bayern Munich, Guardiola lauded Alonso’s intelligence as a player and emphasized his value as a coach.
