Manchester City’s coach Pep Guardiola will stay two more seasons at the Etihad stadium after penning a new contract extension on Thursday.

The new deal will quell speculations about the Spaniard’s future as reports suggested he would depart after seeing off the remaining seven-months in his initial five years contract.

Guardiola who has guided the blue half of Manchester to back-to-back Premier League will have another opportunity to guide City to their first-ever Champions League trophy.

“Having that kind of support is the best thing any manager can have. I have everything I could possibly want to do my job well and I am humbled by the confidence the owner, chairman, Ferran [Soriano] and Txiki [Begiristain] have shown in me to continue for two more years after this season.

“The challenge for us is to continue improving and evolving, and I am very excited about helping Manchester City do that.”
