Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for February.

Guardiola is winning the award for the second consecutive month after leading the run-away league leaders to six successive victories in the month to extend their unbeaten run to 14 league matches and 20 across all competitions.

The Spaniard has now amassed nine awards.

Only Sir Alex Ferguson (27), Arsene Wenger (15) and David Moyes (10) have surpassed his record.

In the same vein, City’s midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan won the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award, topping an eight-man shortlist that included Joachim Andersen, Harvey Barnes, Joao Cancelo, Bruno Fernandes, Jesse Lingard, Ruben Neves and Raphinha.

Gundogan became the first Manchester City player to win the award back-to-back after claiming the prize for February 2021.

“I am very proud to win this award again but I am most proud of being part of this amazing team,” says Gundogan who became the first German to win the accolade more than once.

His four goals and an assist helped City take a commanding lead at the top of the table, describing the good run as amazing.

“To win all our games in February, like we did in January, is amazing. Hopefully, we can continue like this because, ultimately, winning trophies is what matters,” he told Manchester City’s website.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, won the Goal of the Month Award for February with his magnificent curling strike during the 3-3 draw against Everton at Old Trafford.

It is the second time that Fernandes has claimed the Budweiser award, having taken the prize in June 2020 for his goal at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Just like United crashed the party for City by ending their 28-game unbeaten run last weekend, Fernandes’ victory ensured City earn a treble at the monthly award by beating City’s Riyad Mahrez and six others to the best goal award.
