Nigerian afro-house sensation, Niniola Apata, has revealed the passing of her husband, Michael Ndika.
The singer shared the heartbreaking news through a series of emotional posts uploaded to her Instagram story in the early hours of Wednesday.
Ndika, before his death, served as the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform dedicated to afro-house and modern African music.
“God took him,” she wrote in one of the posts.
In another message, the Grammy-nominated artiste stated, “My husband died.”
A third post read: “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.”
Each of the posts was accompanied by photographs of the couple together.
Details surrounding Ndika’s death have not been made public. Niniola, known for keeping her personal life away from social media and public attention, has yet to provide further information.
At 39, Niniola rose to fame after emerging as one of the standout contestants on Project Fame West Africa in 2013. Since then, she has established herself as one of Nigeria’s leading music exports.
Her hit single Maradona gained global recognition in 2017 and attracted attention from international stars such as DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
