Governors’ influx into APC not a threat to my presidential ambition – Umahi

Published

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has revealed that his presidential ambition is not threatened by state governors defecting into the All Progressive Congress.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, Umahi who recently announced his presidential ambition says he is rather happy than threatened by the influx of governors from other political parties.

Umahi said, “I will feel happy rather than being threatened. My ambition is in the hand of God.

“The more we have governors in the APC, the more chance we have to win the election. The more chance we have to continue the project of Nigeria from where Mr President will leave it by 2023.”

WuzupNigeria reported that Umahi faces a strong rivalry against the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who announced his presidential ambitions less than 24 hours earlier than the Ebonyi governor.

However, after informing the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari of his ambitions, Umahi had maintained that he is undeterred by Tinubu’s presence.

Umahi who defected from Peoples Democratic Party to the APC in November 2020 also revealed that Buhari urged him to seek the support of the people after their meeting last Tuesday.
