Gov Yusuf mourns ex-Kano finance commissioner Prof. Dandago

Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed “deep sorrow” over the passing of a former Commissioner of Finance and prominent academic, Kabiru Dandago.

The governor’s reaction was conveyed in a statement issued on Wednesday, March 4, by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to a report by The Punch, Governor Yusuf described the late Prof. Dandago as a committed public servant and distinguished scholar whose impact on education and governance left enduring marks on Kano State.

He further noted that the late professor served the state with dedication and integrity, earning admiration for his professionalism, humility and deep passion for knowledge.

The governor said Kano State has lost a valuable son whose experience and wisdom greatly enriched public service and the academic community.
Governor Yusuf also conveyed his condolences to the family of the deceased, members of the academic community and the people of Kano State over what he described as an irreplaceable loss.

He prayed that Almighty Allah forgive the shortcomings of the late Prof. Isa Dandago and grant him paradise, while giving his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.

Before his death, Professor Dandago was a lecturer at Bayero University Kano and was widely recognised for his scholarship in the fields of economics and accountancy.

Available records show that the late academic began his career at the university in 1990 and was elevated to the rank of professor in 2007 in the Department of Accountancy.
