Gov. Lalong inaugurates projects at Air force combat search, rescue group

The projects include an Officer’s mess and two blocks of ten by one accommodation for airmen instructors and students of the Air Provost Training Centre, domiciled within the combat search and rescue group.
Inaugurating the projects, Lalong commended NAF for the stride, adding that it would further reposition it toward ensuring the safety of lives and property.
He said the projects would enable the special troops deployed to put in their best in ending all forms of insecurity in the state.
“This ceremony is one of the series of remarkable strides the NAF continues to make in repositioning itself into a professional and disciplined force.
“I am honored to be part of this epoch-making event, because these achievements will remain indelible in the hearts of Plateau people, as the immediate beneficiaries,” he said.
The governor thanked the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, for siting the combat search and rescue group in the state, noting that the outfit had so far addressed the myriad of security challenges within its host community and the state.
He also commended the NAF for playing a key role toward the attainment of the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the state and promised to support the force to succeed in the fight against insecurity in the state.
He commended the vision and leadership style of the Chief of the Air Staff, particularly for giving serious attention to the welfare and training of personnel.
“The establishment of the special operation command and subsequent siting of 205 combat search and rescue group is a commitment of the Federal Government in ensuring that law-abiding citizens are protected at all times.
“Since it’s the establishment, NAF has widened its participation in the consolidation of peace and security of Plateau, particularly in rural areas.
“At this juncture, I must commend the visionary leadership of the chief of the air staff, who has remained outstanding in the discharge of his duty.
“He has clearly demonstrated that with the diligence that NAF will definitely be the best in Africa and this is seen in deep attention he has given to the welfare and training of personnel, and acquisition of needed equipment,” Lalong said.
Speaking at the event, Sadique expressed his commitment to the promotion of the welfare of personnel.
According to him, the NAF under his watch has done a lot in the areas of training, building structures, and acquisition of equipment.
“We have shown a commitment to restructuring NAF in order to contain the security challenges in the country,” he said
Sadique thanked Gov Lalong for supporting the NAF in its bid to ending all forms of insecurity in the state and country in general.
