Gov kefas reacts as Taraba student kills teacher

Published

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has condemned the gruesome killing of a secondary school teacher, Bassey Sarduana Nkuphee, by one of his former students and some of his friends from the school.

Kefas described the incident as “highly regrettable” and a “wake-up call for parents and all stakeholders to intensify their supervisory roles over their wards at home and in schools.”

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications to the governor, Emmanuel Bello, Kefas said the incident indicates “societal decay.”

He identified the use of drugs by some youths as a major reason for the vices in society, and urged security operatives to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Kefas also stressed the need to secure schools and make them safe for learning.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to purging the educational system of its challenges, and said that part of the state’s free education policy is ensuring the welfare and well-being of both teachers and students.
