Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State took a significant step by distributing over N588.10 million to 19,720 beneficiaries of the Imole Osun Cash Grant Scheme in Osogbo. During the ceremony, Governor Adeleke, represented by the State Head of Service, Mr. Ayanleye Aina, emphasized the importance of social inclusion and support for the vulnerable in society.

“The beneficiaries were carefully selected from the State Social Register for Poor and Vulnerable Households under the State Operation Coordinating Unit, National Social Safety Net Project,” stated Governor Adeleke, highlighting the meticulous process involved in identifying those in need.

Governor Adeleke reiterated his administration’s dedication to the social protection sector, stating, “We have invested in various high-level social security strategies aimed at reducing poverty, unemployment, and low productivity among our people.”

Explaining the rationale behind the cash grant scheme, he said, “This support system shall aim to reduce the income gap between the haves and the have-nots in our dear state,” affirming his commitment to ensuring equitable opportunities for all citizens.

Regarding the disbursement process, Governor Adeleke detailed, “Each beneficiary was supported with a sum of between N25,000 and N30,000 only. Among the 19,720 beneficiaries, 10,390 of them with existing bank accounts have had access to withdraw and utilize their money.”

He also noted, “I have given approval that the remaining 9,330 beneficiaries be given their debit cards.” This initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s financial inclusion policy, aiming to provide banking services to underserved populations.

Governor Adeleke emphasized the significance of the smart cards distributed to beneficiaries, stating, “The smart cards can be useful for further interventions and private use.”

He assured citizens that his administration’s Five Point Agenda prioritizes social investment, encompassing various sectors such as health, education, agriculture, youth, women, children development, and special needs.
