Popular gospel singer Ajayi Aduke Morounkola, known as Aduke Gold, has passed away.
The news was confirmed on Tuesday morning by fellow gospel artist Esther Igbekele, who posted a tribute on social media.
“A GENERAL HAS FALLEN. ADUKE GOLD #RIP,” Igbekele wrote, sharing a photo of Aduke Gold.
The cause of Aduke Gold’s death has not been revealed.
Aduke Gold began her music career in 2004 and gained prominence with a live performance at the first remembrance event for the late gospel artist Baba Ara.
Known for her powerful vocals and inspiring lyrics, Aduke Gold touched many hearts and had a strong following among gospel music fans in Nigeria and beyond.
She was the 11th child of her late parents and grew up in the Ogba and Badagry areas of Lagos.
Her sudden death has left her fans, friends, and family in shock and mourning.
Esther Igbekele expressed her sorrow, stating, “Despite the competitive nature of the gospel music industry, Aduke Gold made a significant impact with her soul-lifting songs and unwavering dedication to her craft. Her talent and passion earned her a growing fanbase and increasing popularity, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.”
This loss comes after the recent death of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who passed away on April 28, 2024.
