Gospel movie actor and producer, Moses Korede Are, popularly known by his stage name “Baba Gbenro” from the Mount Zion series Abattoir, has reportedly died at the age of 65.
According to a close source, the beloved actor died on November 14, 2024, after a prolonged battle with liver disease.
His death was announced by fellow gospel actor and producer, Oluwaseun Adejumobi, on his verified Instagram page on Thursday.
Adejumobi shared the sad news with a heartfelt message, writing, “Heaven’s Gain Again. A General Has Gone to Rest.” Fans and colleagues responded with tributes, expressing their sorrow over the loss of one of Nigeria’s respected gospel actors.
Fondly called Baba Gbenro by his fans, Korede Are was well-known for his impactful role as a central character in the Abattoir series, produced by Mount Zion Faith Ministries.
Beyond acting, he made significant contributions to Christian media as the founder and International President of Calvary Movies Drama Ministry in Ogbomoso, Nigeria, and served as the CEO of Calvary Movies Television.
The late gospel actor is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bamike Rebecca Are. Together, the couple was dedicated to promoting the Christian faith through their ministry work and gospel movies.
