Tech giant, Google, has changed its logo to celebrate this year’s Teachers’ Day today October 5 2021.
In tribute to all the teachers across the world, their sacrifices and their contributions to the development of education, Google unveiled a special doodle.
The Theme of World Teachers’ Day 2021 is “Teachers at the heart of education recovery”.
To honour the relentless efforts of teachers across the globe, Google used a bumblebee holding a book to represent a teacher tutoring his/her students who were also depicted with little bumblebees with different colours of flowers/leaves.
According to International Event Day, United Nations presented the theme for Teachers’ Day in respect of their determined and diligent efforts in the crucial stages of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year the official events of World Teachers’ Day will take place in conjunction with the meeting of the Joint ILO-UNESCO Committee of Experts on the Application of the Recommendations concerning Teaching Personnel (CEART), which will be running from 4 to 8 October 2021.
There will be a series of national, regional and global events throughout the week.
On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2021, UNESCO, International Labour Organization, United Nations Children’s Fund and Education International released a joint statement.
“On World Teachers’ Day, we are not only celebrating every teacher. We are calling on countries to invest in them and prioritize them in global education recovery efforts so that every learner has access to a qualified and supported teacher. Let’s stand with our teachers!”
The joint message was signed by Ms Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Guy Ryder, Director-General of the International Labour Organization, Ms Henrietta H. Fore, Executive Director of UNICEF, and Mr David Edwards, General Secretary of Education International.
