The Gombe State Police Command, on Friday, paraded an 18-year-old, Mustapha Adamu Isa, alias Abbati, for the alleged murder of 58-year-old Aishatu Abdullahi Adda Damori, a mother of eight children.

The incident occurred when unknown persons entered Damori’s bedroom and took her life.

Her son, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, reported the murder to the Pantami Division, where the police launched an investigation.

The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, said, “The suspect was arrested last Sunday around 1:30 pm in connection with the case following credible intelligence received by the investigative team, headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, SCID Gombe.”

According to Abubakar, the suspect, Abbati, entered the victim’s room in search of a spanner that she had confiscated from him earlier.

When Damori discovered him in her room, she ordered him to leave. A confrontation ensued, leading to a struggle in which Abbati strangled and killed her with a knife.

He managed to escape through the toilet, leaving behind his bloodstained shirt and the murder weapon. He took the spanner with him.

However, Abbati claimed that he entered Damori’s room to retrieve the spanner, intending to fix a motorcycle that was brought to a nearby mechanic’s garage.

He confessed that it was his first time committing a crime and that he couldn’t explain why he killed the victim, who was his friend’s mother.

Abbati stated that he found the knife in Damori’s room and used it to stab her multiple times before leaving with the spanner.
