The Permanent Secretary of Gombe State Government House, Balarabe Poloma, passed away on Sunday, one week before his scheduled retirement.
Poloma, aged 60, had served three different administrations as the Permanent Secretary of the Government House.
Governor Muhammadu Yahaya expressed his condolences, describing Poloma as an experienced lawyer and seasoned administrator known for dedication, hard work, diligence, and meticulous attention to detail.
He mentioned, “The entire Gombe State government mourns the loss of Barrister Poloma, a man whose contributions to the state’s civil service and governance were invaluable.”
Governor Yahaya had anticipated celebrating Poloma’s well-deserved retirement next week but stated, “God had His plans.”
He continued to say, “Barrister Poloma’s invaluable contributions to the development of civil service and our dear state, particularly in his capacity as Permanent Secretary, will continue to be cherished and remembered.”
The Governor extended his deepest condolences to Poloma’s family, the Waja Traditional Council, the people of Balanga Local Government Area, and the entire public service in Gombe State.
He prayed for eternal rest for the deceased and strength for his family in coping with their loss.
Details regarding Poloma’s burial arrangements will be announced at a later time, according to a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at Government House, Gombe.
