Gombe gov mourns seven killed in road accident

The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, has expressed deep sorrow over a fatal road accident that claimed the lives of seven people from Lawanti community in Akko Local Government Area of the state.

The victims were reportedly travelling to Maiduguri, Borno State, to attend a wedding ceremony when the accident occurred.

In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, the governor described the incident as heartbreaking and devastating.

He said the loss was not only painful for the affected families but also for the entire Lawanti community, Akko Local Government Area and Gombe State as a whole.

“The untimely death of these precious souls has deeply touched our hearts. No words can adequately console families who have lost their loved ones under such tragic circumstances,” Yahaya said.

The governor extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, mentioning the District Head of Jalingo, Bello Hassan Babangida, who lost his sister and niece; Idris Lawanti Maigari, who lost his daughter; and Idris A. Isah Lawanti, the councillor representing Akko Ward, who also lost close relatives.

“I pray that Almighty Allah grants the bereaved families, relatives and the entire Lawanti community the strength, patience and fortitude to bear this immense loss,” he said.

Yahaya also prayed for the souls of the deceased, asking Allah to forgive their shortcomings, accept their good deeds and grant them Aljannatul Firdaus.

The governor urged residents to continue to observe safety measures while travelling, especially during festive periods when road traffic is usually high.
