Aisha Suleiman, a young woman falsely accused of poisoning five people, has finally spoken out after investigations proved that the victims actually died from inhaling generator fumes.

In October 2024, Aisha was nearly lynched after a social media post accused her of poisoning her boyfriend and four of his friends with pepper soup.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) shared her photo and claimed she was responsible for the deaths. This led to angry community members attacking her when she returned home.

She was tied up, doused with petrol, and almost set on fire before authorities intervened and saved her life.

After her arrest, human rights activists got involved and demanded a proper investigation.

Findings revealed that the five victims died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by generator fumes, not food poisoning.

Speaking with ITV Radio in an interview shared on Friday, Aisha denied ever cooking for the victims.

“The boy that died, his best friend once posted me, and my friend screenshotted it, showing me that he had placed a ₦500,000 bounty on me, accusing me of poisoning them,” Aisha said.

She explained that tensions had already been high between her and her late boyfriend’s family after she ended the relationship, and his father had banned her from visiting their home.

On the day of the tragic event, Aisha said she was in Iyakpi, while the deaths happened in Afashio.

Many Nigerians are now calling for the arrest of the person who falsely accused Aisha.

According to Aisha, while she was heading to report the issue at a police station, her late boyfriend’s best friend and some others blocked the road and threatened to kill her.

“They claimed I was the one who cooked the pepper soup,” she added.

A human rights activist involved in the case said: “Because of her age, she wasn’t taken to prison but was instead remanded in welfare. One of the victim’s fathers even confirmed she never came to their house that day.”

Now that the truth is out, Aisha’s supporters are demanding justice for the suffering she went through.
