Ghana Vs Nigeria: Buhari orders civil servants to close early
The Nigerian Government has granted civil servants in Abuja an early closure from work to allow more fans the opportunity to cheer the Super Eagles in their must-win World Cup qualifier play-off today.
Augustine Eguavoen’e men host the Black Stars of Ghana at the MKO Abiola Stadium on Tuesday evening after playing a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana, on Friday.
Recall that the Nigeria Football Federation had announced that there would be free buses at strategic locations to convey fans to the stadium.
However, the early closing period granted to workers was contained in a memo signed by Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe, the Permanent Secretary (Service Welfare Office) for Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Onwudiwe noted that all civil servants have been directed to close by 1pm today March 29.
“There is a need to mobilise support for the Nigerian Team. Consequently, I am directed to inform you that all offices will be closed at 1.00 pm on Tuesday, 29th March 2022.
“Permanent Secretaries are requested to give this circular wide publicity to achieve the desired result,” the memo read.
