Comedian DeeOne has weighed in on the influence of social media on celebrity relevance, stating that Nollywood icon Genevieve Nnaji’s limited digital presence is damaging her brand.

Speaking during an episode of Pulse’s ‘Hot Takes’ podcast, DeeOne argued that the entertainment industry now heavily favours personalities who maintain active online engagement.

He suggested that celebrities who fail to consistently post on platforms like Instagram and Twitter risk losing public visibility.

“Celebrities who don’t post regularly on social media tend to fade from the public eye,” he said, emphasizing the growing importance of digital relevance in maintaining a successful brand.

DeeOne pointed to TikTok content creator Peller as a prime example of effective online branding, claiming that the internet personality currently holds more relevance in Nigeria’s digital space than the legendary actress.

“Genevieve not talking much on social media is not helping her. Genevieve not posting on social media every time is reducing her brand,” he said. “Let me rephrase it, anybody who is not posting constantly is not top of mind.”

His remarks have stirred conversation online, with fans debating the role of social media in defining celebrity influence in today’s entertainment landscape.
