Iniubong Umoren, the Akwa Ibom job-seeker who was raped and killed a few days ago by a man who had lured her with a fake job interview, has emerged as a top performer in 2018/2019 graduating class in the Department of Philosophy, University of Uyo, Uyo.
26-year-old Umoren is among the top 10 graduating students of her department with a GPA of 4.12, according to the final result released by the University of Uyo.
The result showed that the deceased was a few points shy of making a first class degree and would have possibly been employed as a lecturer in the department after her mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, a lecturer at the Department, Associate professor Idorenyin Esikot, noted.
Esikot, who is the acting head of the Department of Philosophy, described the deceased as ‘a very committed and focused student, very hard working.’
According to Premium Times, the don added that she was a footballer who played for UNIUYO’s female team.
He described Umoren’s tragic death as a personal loss, noting that anytime he remembers, it strikes him like a nightmare.
